Global Bites for Kids works with youth and young adults who are figuring out how to feed themselves, earn a living, and build something of their own. Some come to us through school. Some come through a shelter, a caseworker, or a friend. Everyone gets the same thing: real skills, real food, and adults who stay.
The B.I.T.E.S. framework
Five things every young person needs to stand on their own. Every program we run is built from these, and we measure against them.
Building financial literacy
Budgeting, banking, credit, and taxes taught through real numbers — food cost, pricing, and what's actually left at the end of a shift.
Inspiring cultural awareness
Every participant cooks from their own heritage and learns from everyone else's. Food is how we make a room full of strangers into a team.
Training for the workforce
Food-handler certification, kitchen hours, interview practice, and direct introductions to hiring partners in the local food industry.
Empowering entrepreneurship
From a recipe to a priced menu to a licensed business. Participants build and run real food ventures out of our ghost kitchen.
Strengthening leadership
Running a station, training the next cohort, speaking for the program. Graduates come back as paid mentors, not alumni on a mailing list.
Why a kitchen?
Because a financial literacy worksheet is abstract, and a $6 plate that cost $2.10 to make is not. Cooking gives us a place where money, culture, work, and leadership are all real at the same time.
Price every ingredient. Learn unit cost, waste, and what margin actually means.
Prep, timing, safety, service. The habits that make someone hireable in any kitchen.

The same four steps run a food truck and run a household. We teach them once, and they work for life.
What we run
Every program is free to participants and open to youth and young adults through age 25. Schools, agencies, and families can refer someone directly.

Global Bites for Kids was founded with a bold, hands-on mission: turning culinary arts and kitchen management into tangible pathways for financial empowerment, leadership, and entrepreneurship for youth and young adults through age 25.
